January 2017 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

2016 was a year of many challenges which have resulted in both rewarding change and huge growth benefiting not only the hundreds of individuals we serve each year, but our client-partners and volunteers as well.  And we are excited about all God has for us in 2017!  For each of our students and their families, as well as our client-partners and WINGS volunteers who spend countless hours pouring out their time, talent and treasure on others …  Thank You and God Bless.  Your generous support is eternal treasure!

WINGS Ministries Files for Independent Nonprofit Status:

May 1st of this year WINGS Ministries separated from Redeemed Ministries.   This change opened the door for us to become our own non-profit entity so we could better serve our increasing variety of clients and their needs.  We were excited to submit our application for nonprofit status on December 20, 2016.  Shown below … celebrating our signed papers with friends and supporters from H.O.P.E. Haven.

WINGS would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Redeemed Ministries for providing us their support and encouragement from the very beginning of our efforts back in 2012 to today.    We plan to continue to stay connected and serve our community with you.

WINGS is thrilled about four new ministry partnerships established:

Santa Maria Hostel -2 locations

  • We serve women in recovery for drug and alcohol addiction at Santa Maria Hostel’s Jacquelyn House
  • We serve incarcerated women who are new mothers as part of Santa Maria Hostel’s BAMBI Program at their Bonita House

Texas State Prison

  • We are partnering with Prison Fellowship as part of their Life Transformation Initiative Program at the Lucile Plane State Prison for Women

Harris County S.A.F.E. Court

  • We serve individuals 17-25, first-time offenders for prostitution through Harris County’s S.A.F.E. Court Program

Through each of these ministry partnerships, we are able to teach the women we serve (our Butterflies) work and life skills to enable them to get a job and live independently when released.

In 2016, WINGS Ministries impacted more than 800 women-in-crisis and their families.  Our students are excited about the possibility of a new life and the world of opportunities awaiting them.  We are blessed to help them Prepare, Pray and Praise along the way.

The picture below is of just a few of our volunteers who share their LOVE in so many ways.   We couldn’t accomplish a fraction of what must be done without the BEAUTIFUL HEARTS and HANDS of these dedicated women.   WE GRATEFUL FOR YOU ALL!

WINGS Hosts Local Ministry Leader Support Group

In the fall of 2016, we created a local ministry leader support group.  The purpose of the group is to support and encourage local ministry leaders while providing an opportunity to network and share best practices.  GOD has blessed the group and it has grown exponentially!  H.O.P.E. Haven has partnered with us to host the group and we’ve named it, “M.A.D. Leaders!”.  Why, because we are all Making A Difference in our communities.  Follow this link for more information about meeting times and place.

Exciting  things are brewing for the new year!  Stay tuned for future updates on:

  • Expanded Ministry Partnerships
  • Fundraising Activities
  • Volunteers News
  • Curriculum Improvements

To our WINGS Partners … each individual, our Board members, churches and companies who have given us the generous support needed to continue our work through monetary and in-kind donations … THANK YOU!!!

Blessings to you and yours from the WINGS Team!
